As the old gods awaken and satrapies splinter, the Chromeria races to find the only man who might still end a civil war before it engulfs the known world. But Gavin Guile has been captured by an old enemy and enslaved on a pirate galley. Worse still, Gavin has lost more than his powers as Prism - he can't use magic at all.

Without the protection of his father, Kip Guile will face a master of shadows as his grandfather moves to choose a new Prism and put himself in power. With Teia and Karris, Kip will have to use all his wits to survive a secret war between noble houses, religious factions, rebels, and an ascendant order of hidden assassins called The Broken Eye.

Kritikerstimmen

Weeks has truly cemented his place among the great epic fantasy writers of our time
Brent Weeks is so good it's starting to tick me off
One of the best examples of modern fantasy that I've read
Places Brent Weeks on comfortable footing beside contemporaries like Brandon Sanderson and Joe Abercrombie, if not a step above

You know, when you read or hear a new book, how the wording has a great impact on the experience.

so far my experience taught me that this excitement will fade. Either because the author stops polishing, is drained or because i can predict it thus it loosing the surprise.
Well not this time! even after 100 hours i am still exited about his writing style!

i like it

The series started slow but it was necessary for the development of the characters. The characters are enthralling. The story is deep with lots of twists unexpected turns, tons of awesome action. Excellent Book.

Wahnsinnig unterhaltsame Fantasy. Weeks ist einer der besten im Genre. Auch der Sprecher ist überragend. Große Empfehlung.

Noch besser als Teil 1 und 2
