A single mom struggling to raise her rebellious son finds unexpected support in a kind-hearted cowboy in this spicy romance from the author of Seeing Red and Change of Hart.

She’s afraid she’s not enough. He’ll make damn sure she knows she is.

Single mom Whitney Hart is, quite simply, overwhelmed. She’s struggling to raise her ten-year-old son, Jonas. Her ex-boyfriend only seems to come around and help take care of his son when he’s single and hoping to get back together. With Jonas acting out more than ever, Whit realizes she needs help keeping an eye on him over summer vacation.

Enter Colt, a fun-loving cowboy who is tasked with giving Jonas work to do around Wells Ranch to keep him busy. In Colt, Jonas finds a mentor and male role model for the first time in his life. And in Jonas, Colt discovers a friendship that brings a new kind of joy into his life.

Colt and Whit slowly develop a friendship of their own through a shared concern for Jonas, and over the course of the summer, it begins to spark into something more. The attraction and chemistry between them are hard to ignore, but Whit’s insecurities and hesitancy to trust men cause her to pull away.

As miscommunications give way to understanding, the two will discover that sometimes you have to first be broken before you can become whole, and that there’s no one way to create a family.

Kritikerstimmen

“Bailey Hannah tugs on every single one of your heartstrings with Colt, the perfect (laugh-out-loud hilarious) golden retriever who just wants to be loved, and Whit, a fierce, protective mama bear who's doing her best to keep it all together. Relatable, funny, heartwarming, and full of so much heat, At Whit’s End is a testament to the power of showing up for the ones you love, no matter how messy things get.”—Nisha J. Tuli, USA Today bestselling author of Not Safe for Work

“Real, raw, and sweepingly romantic . . . Bailey Hannah tells stories with grit and authenticity that will have you desperately flipping the pages late into the night.”—Catherine Cowles, USA Today bestselling author of All the Missing Pieces

“Cowboy romance fans will eat this up.”Publishers Weekly

After falling in love with the first three books of the Wells Ranch series, I was of course anticipating this one—and with two of my absolute favorite narrators, Teddy Hamilton and Stella Hunter, I dove in with high expectations.

This book follows Colt and Whitney, and Colt may just be the world’s greenest flag of a man. A mustached MMC who wears silly cut-off shirts, is a little goofy, has dyslexia, and carries the softest, sweetest heart? Count me in. He’s refreshingly normal—not overbuilt, not drowning in wealth, not an emotionally stunted alpha—and honestly, that’s one of the best parts of this series. These characters are beautifully flawed, wonderfully relatable, imperfect in the most perfect ways, and feel like real people.

Whitney is a single mom doing her best with a very difficult 10-year-old, and her struggles felt incredibly grounded. She believes she’s too much and not enough—and Colt sees her as perfect, just the way she is. Their emotional journey is tender and heartfelt, even though this installment is a bit lighter than the first three books. That said, the emotional depth is still there, and I appreciated how thoughtfully the heavier topics were handled.

Now onto what didn’t quite work for me: I personally don’t enjoy FMCs taking on a dominant/alpha role in the bedroom, especially in MF pairings. It’s just not my thing. While it wasn’t overwhelming here, those few scenes still pulled me out of the connection with the characters and made Colt feel a bit weak and Whitney too overpowering for my taste. Again, totally a personal preference—it wouldn’t have bothered me in a different subgenre like reverse harem, but here it clashed with my image of their dynamic.

Also, I felt like Jonas got away a little too easily with his behavior and especially the way he spoke to the adults. That part could’ve used a bit more tension or consequence.

Narration-wise? Flawless. Teddy and Stella never miss and brought both characters fully to life.
