Great performance, very entertaining, definite thumbs up! I would love to hear the rest of the Alien saga done this way, too. :)

Thrilling

I played the video game before and was really excited of it. I thought it may would be funny to recap the story due to the audiobook. It was absoloutly worth it ! Great story!

Author seemed clueless

In terms of getting the important plot points from the game across, this novel isn't bad. I also liked the flashback bits it added.
However... Every single scene containing actual aliens is described in a very boring and absolutely not terrifying way. How the author describes its head as "crested" also tells me, that he didn't know a single thing about the lore or the game. The Alien in the game is a drone, and doesn't have a crest but an alongated smooth head.
Another thing that put me off was the apparent lack of knowledge about physics. If you push off a rotating object in zero G, you'd have to take into account the rotation when targeting something you want to reach.
And if I understood it right, there's also a scene where someone changed orbit in an EVA suit around a gas giant to then completely circling the thing to reach something... Like, it took a few minutes or something so... Uh...

Nice enough… :)

I really love the Game, so I thought it might be nice to have this audiobook. If you've played the Game to completion, then it's all in there already, and you find little new content. This book drilled one message into my mind though, which is: "This message and any attachments are confidential, privileged and protected. If you are not the intended recipient, dissemination or copying of this message is prohibited. If you have received this in error, please notify the Sender by replying and then delete the message completely from your system." ^_^ If you haven't played the Game, or never finished it for any reason, then get this Audiobook. It's fun to listen too. The performance of the Voice Actress is really good in my opinion.

Gut, mit kleinen Einschränkungen.

Ein gutes Hörbuch, mit leider zu vielen Zufällen und zu wenig Alien Gefährlichkeit. Verstecken ist schwierig und zu oft hilft der Zufall anstatt clevere Planung. Gute Unterhaltung aber Shadows ist noch bessere Alien-Unterhaltung mit neuem Lore.

What?!

Well that was interesting. I have to admit, I stayed for the plot, not the girl. She was kinda annoying at times and a bit of a snob to be quit honest. The plot was pretty good tho. But what the heck was that ending?!

Alien Isolation without Alien

I do agree with the Notion that overusing a scary element takes the fear away from it. however the alien was used in such a bad way. it never really appeared. even when it was there it was a blink and you will miss it. besides that amanda wasnt that likeable. they tried to explain why she is the way she is but not to a good enough degree. in the story she is this perfect unmatched engineer who is too smart. then the way things happend in the book it was alot of running around and shooting stuff. while these things would get u killed in the game in this book amanda was practically running around the whole time even when aliens were chasing her. she was easy able to outrun em. there never was a quiet moment in which we could have had some extra character building or some thing along the way. now to the positives. the writing style was not bad i did enjoy it quite alot i also like that the ending explains how amanda got back to earth and everything. so idk who this book is for but save ur credit for another one :)

Story is decent but what is this reader

I have to say that right from the start this reader didn't sit right with me, and while she was clear and understandable in her reading, literally everything was conveyed in the same tone of voice. So literally no emotion or any kind of change in her tone in any scene she read. So whether someone is getting impaled by an alien or walking around the tone of voice is exactly the same. I've had the misfortune of buying another book by this reader and you can recognize the lethargic voice immediately. This might just be me, but with other readers you can at least get a hint that they're interested in what they're reading.

Doch besser das Game spielen...

Leider hat der Autor die Geschichte des Spiels A:I in den Hintergrund gerückt und füllt die Hälfte des Buchs/Hörbuchs mit der Jugend von A. Ripley. Was wohl dem Zweck dienen soll, A.R. zu einem glaubhaften Charakter zu machen, wird schnell nervig und lässt auch A.R. wie einen heulenden Teenie wirken.
Vom Horror und der Spannung des Spiels wird dagegen kaum etwas rübergebracht, denn insb. die Aliens sind nur Randfiguren, die A.R. nicht gefährlich werden. Schade, denn alles was das Spiel so hervorragend gemacht hat ist in der Buchfassung verloren gegangen.
