really disappointed in the narration. you cant try to do an egyptian accent and then go ahead and butcher the simplest words in arabic myth. nas-naaaas not nAhs-nAhs and it’s ma-rid not muh-reed?? beyond the fact that there really was no need for accents, the accents were so silly and completely took me out of the story. they sounded more russian/slavic than they did egyptian but that‘s neither here nor there the accents weren‘t necessary to the story at all and served virtually no purpose (if they‘re all egyptians surely they wouldn’t notice accents on one another??? yknow?? like if i‘m egyptian and you‘re egyptian we‘re just speaking normally? so why the accents?). such a letdown. the story itself was fun. no idea why the main character had to explicitly put together that maker was the third sacrifice i thought that was a given but otherwise it was a fun story. will be reading more of clark‘s work but i am staying away from the audiobooks.
