  • Goldy looking chains and more tech from the Tour de France Grand Depart
    Jul 10 2026

In the latest edition of Off the Back, the podcast from Cycling Weekly, Aaron Borrill takes us through all the tech he spotted at the Tour de France. From Remco Evenepoel's gold chain to 3D printed parts and at least one bike that could do with shaving some weight. Every year, before the start of the Tour de France, tech journalists descend on team hotels hoping to get up close and personal with the bikes about to ridded in the race. Although many new bikes were spotted at the Tour Auvergne Rhone Alpes in early June, at the Tour you get to see everyone's machines.

    • Remco Evenepoel's new Shiv TT bike
    • Thinner tyres, massive chainrings and 3D printing galore
    • Felix Engelhardt's custom Bundesflagge Giant

Cycling Weekly's Off the Back podcast is out every Thursday, covering everything from the Tour de France to adventurous Mums taking on epic rides with their kids. Subscribe and you'll be notified every time a new episode is released.

  • 'Judging by the team's reaction, they didn't want it spotted': Pre Tour de France bike leaks including that Tarmac SL9
    Jun 12 2026

In this episode of "Off the Back," a Cycling Weekly podcast, Simon, Adam and Aaron are joined by special guest Jamie to chat about the bike spotting he did at the Tour Auvergne-Rhônes-Alpes, or the Dauphiné, if you prefer the old name.

First, though, there’s some chat about an exciting end to the Giro d’Italia Women, which saw victory for Demi Vollering after a final stage turnaround. There’s also talk of bike paths, which was the subject of a popular article on our site last week.

The meat of the podcast, though, is Jamie talking us through the exciting tech he saw in France at the weekend, including the upcoming Specialized Tarmac SL9, an intriguing new climbing bike for Ridley, and also some riders using MTB computers…

  • Giro’s 20g bike weight debate & an epic Unbound year
    Jun 5 2026

In this episode of "Off the Back," a Cycling Weekly podcast, Simon, Rook, and Andy dive into an exciting week in the cycling world.

Jonas Vingegaard quite handily won the Giro d'Italia, earning a rare place in cycling history as one of just 8 male cyclists to have won all three Grand Tours while teammate Sepp Kuss

Earned this trifecta by winning a stage in all three tours, and delivered a very touching post-race interview.

We also cover the epically muddy Unbound edition, which certainly delivered a spectacle and lots of tech to talk about. We spoke at length about the emergence of a Gravel Super Team and Keegan Swenson's selfless act to help his teammate, Mads Wurtz Schmidt, to take the win.

And, of course, we also delve into the controversial disqualification of Lorena Wiebes at the Giro, sparking debates on UCI regulations.
