This is a really good tecnical scifi book that gets into the nitty gritty of things. If you enjoy this you will love this book. I am more of a fan of adventure scifi like star wars, red riding or star trek. Otherwise I had one complaint with this book. The book felt more like a setup for the following books in the trilogy than a story itself. Other than that, great book!!!!

I'm always looking for new stories and this is one.
There are several storylines which slowly start to connect.
On one you have blind Caitlin, who has a unique perspective on her teenage world and who experiences the miracle of seeing for the first time.
On another you follow the process of the emergent AI on the web.
On a third you have a primate research station doing research on what consciousness and intelligence is.
Pros:
- A story that I didn't feel that I've read before.
- I could connect with all the characters - even the AI on the web.
- The integrated discussion on what defines consciousness and what criteria entitle you to have equal rights to human beings.
Con:
- Caitlin is maybe just a bit too perfect and too moral. This is why I deduct half a star.
