But his story starts much earlier, when he was convicted for drug use and served hard time in San Quentin State Prison. His journey to sobriety, and Hollywood, is truly astounding. His voice, weathered, raspy, yet warm, captures all of it. Trejo never sugarcoats his life story. His audiobook is moving precisely because he is always straightforward and authentic. Throughout, Trejo often laughs at the fond memories he shares but is serious about his family and his work helping others."

I've listened to this audiobook three times by the time I wrote this review and I'll probably listen to it again.

Danny Trejo has a very unique life with plenty of ups and downs, and no dull moments. It's an inspiring story of a man that went through lots of hoops to become a better person and atone for his mistakes.

Danny's personal narration gives it that extra charm because it feels like he is personally telling you his life story. Some listeners don't like his narration and he tends to jump at different points in his life. But if you pay close attention, you'll follow his train of thought and appreciate the format even more.
