Das ist nicht Pratchetts witzigster Roman, aber vielleicht sein bester! Hauptthema sind Rassenkonflikte, verbunden in einer gewohnten Krimihandlung, mit ein paar guten Lachern, wirklich gut und interessant abgehandelt. Das ganze ist aber unterlegt mit den Familienkonflikten des Hauptmannes, und das hebt das Buch deutlich über den Durchschnitt. Die Albernheit der Rhincewindgeschichten ist fast völlig verschwunden, fehlt aber nicht. Statt dessen bekommt man mehrere Ausführungen von "Where is my Cow?", und die haben mir die Tränen auf die Wangen getrieben, und nicht nur vor Lachen!!
