Not bad. But not good

The book isn't bad. But the book is also not very good. I guess it depends what you are looking for. I had expectations for the crime story, background story. But it just isn't that good. The character of the detective goes into the direction of all detectives - misunderstood though guy. Which isn't bad, not at all. Other crime series embody the persona quiet well and tell a fascinating story. Here I don't really connect because not much is given to the audience. I guess that is the point but that also meant I didn't build a relationship there. The crime itself initially sounds interesting but then ultimately isn't that much.
