‘A sparklingly delicious confection to satisfy the mystery reader’s appetite’ Helena Dixon, bestselling author of the Miss Underhay Mysteries
The first book in a NEW cozy mystery series!Still spinning from the hustle and bustle of city life, Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker is glad to be back in the Cornish village she calls home. Having quit the Met Police in search of something less dangerous, the change of pace means she can finally start her dream catering company and raise her daughter, Daisy, somewhere safer.
But there’s nothing quite like having your first job back at home be catering an ex-boyfriend’s wedding to remind you of just how small your village is. And when the bride vanishes, Jodie is drawn into the investigation, realising that life in the countryside might not be as quaint as she remembers.
With a missing bride on their hands, murder and mayhem lurks around every corner…
But surely saving the day will be a piece of cake for this not-so-amateur sleuth?

and such a perfect book! it has everything a cosy crime needs. Random botanical facts you could never know, local Cornwall knowledge (like the stupid train connections), characters who actually make mistakes and apologise for them, to many specifics about cars and even a healthy relationship with the main characters mother!
You can solve the crime with the main character together with the evidence sprinkled into the story. References to classics like Miss Marple and Poirot really shows how the author must have enjoyed the genre themselves and knows exactly what the readers like.
Atmosphere of Cornwall seaside town with a badass London copper who decided she really liked where she grew up after all. The vibe of leaving for the big city and coming back in your 30s cause you realise what difference a proper community makes, perfectly hits home for me.
Is it a bit stereotypical? maybe. But at least the crime itself was nothing you can see a mile away and actually had a surprising ending. And of course the power of old women and their gossip as the core of every community is an abselout highlight!
And we all like a bit of the classics with a twist.
Loved it!
I am so glad there are more of these
