The Unlikely Pilgramage of Harold Fry is the story of a retired sales man, who decides to walk 600 miles to save the life of a former colleague dying from cancer.
Step by step Harold is not only getting closer to his destination, but also to the things, he locked up in his heart for too long. The terrible pain, he feels, when he thinks of the fate of his only son David, his marriage, which has turned from true love to hostility and carelessness.
Harold touches the heart of many people during his journey, but also experiences friendship, love and kindness.
This is not a book for the young reader, but it will deeply touch any adult, who is willing to reflect on love, life and death

Auch wenn die Reise des Harold Fry in der Tat zunächst eher unwahrscheinlich klingt, sind die menschlichen Begegnungen die er auf seinem Weg macht und die Geschichten die dahin stecken sehr nah an der Realität und geben einem zu denken. In dieser Geschichte geht es um Freundschaft, um Aufrichtigkeit und um die Frage wie viel Liebe, Zuneigung und Ehrlichkeit man seinen Mitmenschen geben sollte um selbst ein glückliches Leben zu führen. Ruhiger und unaufgeregter Erdzählstil, trotzdem nie langweilig.
