emotional, angsty, and chemistry-packed
Audiobook lovers—you’re in for a treat. Jacob Morgan and Savannah Peachwood narrate this with so much heart and heat, it adds a whole extra layer to the experience. Morgan’s voice for Dare was spot on—deep, charming, and expressive—and Peachwood captured Billie’s emotional arc beautifully.

The Trouble with Whiskey is the emotional, angsty, and chemistry-packed kickoff to Melissa Foster’s spinoff series, The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch—and wow, what a ride. This was my first book by Foster, and I was not prepared for the emotional gut punch it delivered. Grief, healing, friendship, and forgiveness are all front and center in this story, and I’ll be honest—I had to set it down three times to breathe and pick up something lighter before diving back in. That’s how heavy and real it gets.
Now let’s talk about Dare—who is not your typical grumpy alpha despite what the cover might suggest. He looks like one, sure, but Dare is a complete cinnamon roll. He’s hilarious, dances like Magic Mike, lives for extreme sports, is a therapist (yes, please 🙌), and is fiercely loyal and emotionally in-tune. He brought a much-needed levity to the story and completely stole my heart.
On the downside, the third-person POV pulled me out of the emotional intimacy a bit, and given the heaviness of the themes, it was hard to stay immersed without a break. But the chemistry? The connection? The smexy moments? 100% worth coming back to every time.
