    Inhaltsangabe

The Tao of Seneca (volumes 1-3) is an introduction to Stoic philosophy through the words of Seneca. If you study Seneca, you'll be in good company. He was popular with the educated elite of the Greco-Roman Empire, but Thomas Jefferson also had Seneca on his bedside table. Thought leaders in Silicon Valley tout the benefits of Stoicism, and NFL management, coaches, and players alike - from teams such as the Patriots and Seahawks - have embraced it because the principles make them better competitors. Stoicism is a no-nonsense philosophical system designed to produce dramatic real-world effects. Think of it as an ideal operating system for thriving in high-stress environments. This is your guide.

    Audio book

I have just entered the wonderful world of stoicism and was very much looking forward to hearing this particular book. Much to my surprise and early on annoyance, I found myself utterly unable to continue hearing this audio book. It is read much like untrained people image acting or good reading out loud to be, forced, faked and quite obviously so. It is surely my personal experience and taste that I would rather not be disturbed by the reader whilst trying to focus on the writings, that is, that the how is being read should never deem more attention that that of what is being spoken of. A real pity.

    Overacted, with odd accent choice

The writing in these letters contain intelligent and thought provoking knowledge.
Unfortunately, the actor has chosen to read it as if he were pretending to be an American stage performed from the 1800s. A fake posh or English(?) accent, a persona that may be chosen to mock a high society person in a bad comedy, makes the audiobook difficult to listen to. I hope with more time i can listen past the strange acting choice.

I cant focus on Seneca, because of the speaker

John A. Robinson cannot pronaunce any words with "ch" and hardly any words with "s" in them. It is therefore impossible to focus on what he is saying. I have stopped listening after letter 6, because it annoyed me so much and could not focus on what he was saying anymore.

    Philosophy you can actually use

Great audio book that makes you think about the way you live. Careful, you may actually change something (or even a lot, like quitting your job) after listening.
