Über diesen Titel

Brought to you by Puffin.

From New York Times #1 best-selling author Rick Riordan and award-winning author Mark Oshiro comes a new standalone adventure featuring two of the most popular characters from the world of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

ONE PROPHECY. TWO DEMIGODS. A HEROIC QUEST.

Nico di Angelo is pretty familiar with the realms of death, being the son of Hades and all. So when a desperate voice starts plaguing his dreams, Nico is convinced it's coming from the Underworld and belongs to an old friend - a reformed Titan called Bob. Then an ominous prophecy leaves Nico in no doubt - Bob needs his help and Nico must rescue him.
Of course Nico's boyfriend, Will Solace, the son of Apollo (the god of light) insists on joining the quest too. But can will even survive in the darkest part of the world? And what does the prophecy mean when it says that Nico will have to leave something of equal value behind?

As Nico faces demons both internal and external, his relationship with Will is tested to its very core. Can love find its way, even through the depths of hell?

Well, sometimes, the Story was a little too dark and it drained me. But it's the Underworld and Tartarus, so I could have excepted that.

The Narrative was sooo good and the voice very comforting. I liked the Story too, 'cause Will and Nico are just sooooo cute

Now that I'm through with the book and had some time to think about it, I decided to add to my former review. The points of my old review still stand, so I kept it untouched at the end.

Story: the story is a masterpiece about healthy relationships and mental health. It's a must read.
Structure: I complained about the structure in my old review, and that still stands. However, the structural problems go away at the halfpoint of the book and I guess reading the book would leave you less confused then hearing it, which brings me to...

The Narrator.
Beckels has a really nice voice, that is pleasant to listen to. However, it would've been a lot better if there would've been some tonal differences about the different parts of the first half, to better differentiate between past, present and future.
My biggest gripe however made itself clear towards the end of the book.
I get that narrators don't want to scream into the ears of their listeners, but please: opt out for a stronger, deeper voice, instead of WHISPERING. It sucks all emotion and inversion out of you, when everything shouted is a hold back whisper.

Old Review:
Let me put the most important things first:
The story is great. The narrator is great. The lovestory between Nico and Will is amazing, well written and absolute sweet.
And of course, greek mythology is all around.

So why just 3 stars?
Maybe this is a problem only I have, but I could barely follow the story itself due to it's structure.
The story bounces along between several strands of time.
The Present is interupted by short snippets in the Future and narrations from the Past. And while each of these timeframes are building a nice story, the structure jumps between these parts in a way that makes me struggle to follow the plot.
Again, this might be a personal issue, one I couldn't get past in other books as well (f.e. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), but doesn't seem to bother other readers.
For me, it sadly makes the story so hard to follow, that my enjoyment suffered down to 3 stars.
But if you don't have an issue with this, this book won't let you down!

A beautiful story, but the Audiobook has flaws

The writing is so beautiful like always, but the themes and moods are darker and deeper. The new sites we see in our beloved Charakters are amazing and heartwarming. The journey the boys have to go through brings up topics that are more adult and show a type of Charakter development that we haven’t seen in the more teenage/ YA targeted books so far. The read is great for us who grew up with the other books and are now a little bit older and ready for plots that are a little harsher. I really loved it!

Love it Love it Love it
