Thrillingly exciting and achingly romantic, The Red Scholar's Wake is rich with political intrigue and piratical adventure. It took my breath away!
Space battles! Arranged marriage! Politics and pirates! Aliette de Bodard has a knack for concocting the most glittery and delicious candy-shell of space opera, and then filling it with a bittersweet romance between two fractured people trying to hold on to their ideals. Every new book of hers instantly becomes my favourite book of hers, and this was no exception

Absolut nicht meins

Ein Fehler ist aufgetreten. Bitte versuche es in ein paar Minuten noch einmal.
Erträglich, wenn es im Hintergrund läuft. Sobald man sich auf die Geschichte konzentriert, fällt auf wie flach leider alles ist, egal ob Charaktere, Intrigen oder die Romanze. Der Scifi Part wirkt, als ob er nachträglich auf einen historischen Liebesroman aufgesetzt wurde, ein Deko Element, das beliebig ausgetauscht werden kann. (Ein Beispiel von vielen: Es werden häufig die Bots verschiedener Personen beschrieben, nie werden sie in einer Form verwendet, die einen Nutzen erkennen lässt.) Xich Si soll gut mit Bots umgehen können und Datenanalystin sein. Das wird oft gesagt, aber nie glaubhaft gezeigt, Mindships unterscheiden sich in der Persönlichkeit nicht von Menschen, Die Menschen sind Abziehbilder, die Intrigen und Politik auf Groschenromanniveau. Habe das Hörbuch rund 90 min vor dem Ende abgebrochen. Die Sprecherin war ordentlich, aber kann das Ganze auch nicht retten. Zwei Sterne für das Potential, das leider vergeben wurde.
