Über diesen Titel

From the superb Jeffrey Archer, The Prodigal Daughter is the magnificent story of love and politics. It is the enthralling sequel to the global phenomenon Kane and Abel, described by The Times as a 'classic novel of modern literature'.

Hers was the ultimate ambition . . .

The titanic battle between two men obsessed with destroying each other follows on to the next generation. Florentyna Rosnovski, Abel's daughter, inherits all of her father's drive, but none of his wealth.

A woman gifted with beauty and spirit, but above all with indomitable will, she sets out in pursuit of an ambition that dwarfs both Kane and Abel, as she battles for the highest office of all . . .

While the novel itself lacks quite the drama and interest of the first book, and felt much like a biography of ultimately a kind of boring person over long stretchss it is nonetheless worth it for continuing the story and for the moments that were better. And the story was incredibly ill served by the reader, whose performance seemed more suited to a rather bland children's book, it was strangest at the beginning when she still voiced some part of aging Abel, but equally infantilizing of the adult character later on. She has has a very strange way of stressing both last syllables of a sentence, making each sentence feel like some kinf of ending. It was bland at best and grating at worst. Almost decided to pass on the last book because she also voiced that.

Unfortunate voicing of a relatively good novel
