When a woman's body is discovered in a cathedral and hours later a young man is found hanging from a tree outside his home, Detective Lottie Parker is called in to lead the investigation. Both bodies have the same distinctive tattoo clumsily inscribed on their legs. It's clear the pair are connected, but how?

The trail leads Lottie to St Angela's, a former children's home, with a dark connection to her own family history. Suddenly the case just got personal.

As Lottie begins to link the current victims to unsolved murders decades old, two teenage boys go missing. She must close in on the killer before they strike again, but in doing so is she putting her own children in terrifying danger?

Lottie is about to come face to face with a twisted soul who has a very warped idea of justice.

what can I say? I really enjoyed it!

Good police procedural, interesting female lead detective, single mum, with a complicated personality and doomed past. Nice setting: Ireland.

Some reviews criticized the bland character development, have to disagree. I felt very drawn to the characters.

For everyone who enjoys a good police procedural with an unlikely heroine in an unusual environment.

Die nicht verarbeitete Trauer und damit verbundene Vernachlässigung ihrer eigenen Kinder sowie die schroffe Art der Protagonistin lassen diese zeitweilig unsympathisch wirken. Die zu Beginn gute Story wird leider zum Ende hin langatmig und hätte schneller zum Finale geführt werden können. Gegen Ende überschlagen sich die Ereignisse zudem auf eine übertriebene Art. Die Sprecherin bekommt Punktabzüge, weil beim Hören nicht immer klar zu erkennen ist, wer jetzt gerade spricht.

Insgesamt etwas langatmig

The plot sadly is very realistic, flashes back into the horrors of covered up child abuse in the seventies. Each chapter provides you with an unbearable cliffhanger that makes it impossible not to keep on listening to the further development of the story. Beautifully narrated with a very appealing voice precicely rendering the different personalities in the story. Thank you!

Complicated crimes from years ago stretch to modern times. Really twisted crime story. Can strongly reconmened and will now start with the second book of this series.
