Eloquent lecturer but ...
Would this be a course teaching elegant rhethoric, Prof. Robinson would shurely earn a five star rating. But as a lecturer of philisophy he lacks neutrality. His preference for reactionary christendom dominates just to many of the later lectures. And he just doesn´t understand Darwinism and Marxism. Probably doesn´t ever seriously tried to grasp the concepts.
Still you can enjoy the lectures featuring topics till the time of enlightenment. That´s 2/3 of the course.

Well read! best coverage of philosophers .
The main virtue on which the quality of audio book is judged is the narration, by which I mean reading as human but not robot. That is done in the excellet way in this audio book.

Lost the forest for the trees
The speaker is great. I wish I could write the way he speaks. However, I found it a bit difficult to follow the lectures. I felt like they went into too much detail without providing enough explanation of the main points of each philosopher, movement or school of thought. After listening to all of the lectures, I feel like I can list the names of most of the major contributors to western intellectual history, but I couldn't tell you much about what any of them said.

Old white male, your name is Daniel Robinson
Foregoing all political correctness which Mr Robinson appears to hate with a real passion: While this program is a nice enough overview of philosophy and its history, Robinson's sheer intellectual lazyness and brazen privileged self-congratulatory disregard for other perspectives and academic fields is quite breathtaking.
If you don't mind this and find no better program to learn about this stuff, by all means, go ahead, but I recommend you at least try to find something better.
