This turned out to be quite the adventure and action story with well placed romance on the side.

The story started interesting, but the protagonist was then repeatedly extraordinarily stupid, and the part in Africa is very boring and lengthy. The reading of English with accent (African people speaking) slows down extremely and is really bad. I turned the reading speed to 1.5 whenever an African said anything. It was really annoying.

The story needs time to get going although the events are dramatic from the beginning. Latest when Becky gets involved, things start to speed up and it certainly helps to know the characters from Inspector Carter books series. The whole book is similar to what I have seen in other Sibel Hodge books: a very sensitive (political) topic well researched around which a story packed with suspense and action is built. I can see why some people found the story too slow or the characters somehow naive, but still the book has the certain ‘X factor’. And Henrietta Meire reads the story just brilliantly.
