Über diesen Titel

Vampires, mermaids, and witches...oh, my! Black Veil is full of them all, but at the end of the day, it's The Blood Boss who has the last word. Ever since The Final War, Vampires rule Black Veil, and with The Blood Boss in charge, peace reigns.

Keeping the vampires under control is a task Cain takes seriously. Humans have accepted his rule, and anyone who seeks to destroy his territory is given swift punishment. His promise to keep Black Veil safe comes with great sacrifice and selflessness; never does he dare hope for more in life. Until one day, a man walks through his front door and changes everything.

Jayce has a happy life. His adopted parents love him, he wants for very little, and he lives every day to the fullest. But when a normal evening turns into a nightmare, and Jayce is forced to come face-to-face with The Blood Boss, the world as he knows it feels like a lie.

Then a great secret is revealed, and nothing is what it seems. Cain and Jayce must work together to stop the forces uniting against the vampires. Can Cain and Jayce keep Black Veil from crumbling into the sea when every attempt to do so seems impossible?

Contains mature themes.

Loved it even more the second time around!
Cain and Jayce are so precious together and I can’t wait for book 2

Narrators on point

There are just too many things, unlogical mainly, that you have to question. Doesn't really pick up speed.
I can listen to it in the background, but it doesn't make you want more!

He did try

I went into this with next to no expectations and still couldn’t finish it. I couldn’t even stand it as free background noise for cleaning, which is why I started listening in the first place.

The best way to make it short is probably to say that this story could’ve been printed straight off Wattpad or AO3. Maybe it was. I couldn’t help but chuckle and grin while shaking my head for most of the book I managed to get through, not because it was entertaining but because it‘s so bad it’s amusing.

The main character Jace is annoying and doesn’t exactly strike one as the brightest candle on the cake. The “Blood Boss” is incredibly uninteresting considering his title and the author seems to try to simultaneously portray him as this “big bad vampire lord” as well as pretty much a softie which just doesn’t work, at least not the way it’s done here. Instead he just seems to be all over the place. The story seems to be both predictable and absurd. Maybe all this gets better over time but the book couldn’t make me stick around to find out.

The only positive thing is the narrator. He does quite a good job and is the sole reason this isn’t a complete 1 star rating.

Amusing, in a bad way
