What a wonderful novel! The audiobook is fascinating and brilliantly read by the whole cast of readers. Highly enjoyable and strongly recommended!

The first part, where each character tells their POV is a bit too stretched I think, which is not to say their stories aren’t all interesting and captivating in their own way, because they definitely are! The pace picks up in the later part when the POVs switch more and more rapidly and O.M.G that ending is too good!

Moving book, brilliant character building. Lots of black humour too but a tragic story nonetheless. That the book paces towards an apocalyptic ending is clear from a certain moment. This tension kept me listening longer to the audiobook than was good for me. I loved it so much that I also bought a paper copy to read.

Die Sprecher sind gut, allgemein ist das Buch sprachlich in Ordnung, wenn auch stellenweise sogar für meinen Geschmack zu ausschweifend. Nur leider konnte ich mit der Geschichte rein gar nichts anfangen. Die Protagonisten geben sich stets größte Mühe, sich mit maximaler Effizienz das Leben zu versauen, und die Dramen kommen in einer Häufigkeit und Ausschließlichkeit, dass mich das Ergebnis eher an eine billige Telenovela erinnert. Ich fand es schwer, mich in die Personen hineinzuversetzen, mit ihnen mitzufühlen, wenn sie alle solche Deppen sind. Drum war ich erleichtert, als das Buch endlich rum war.

Really deep characters in a family drama. A masterminded plot of interwoven and reflecting stories of the four family members and further people. Would read it again. In the second part the „you“ in the storytelling is somewhat irritating, but apart from that it is one of the best books I‘ve ever listend to.

This audio book was recommended to me but after a short time, I found myself forcing myself to listen, rather than wanting to. Already at 3 out of 20-something hours, I wanted to quit but pushed on for another hour. I felt like the story was going nowhere and there was little to no character development. I don't know what is in the remaining 21 hours but I'm quitting here. I quite the liked the narrators voice but the story needs some drama to keep one listening.

Nothing happens until the very end. Seems rushed and badly planned. I told a friend I thought it was good because I could only remember the ending and now she thinks I’m an idiot and won’t reply to my messages
