Don't buy this version! The story is - as usual - really good, but the reader is a catastrophy! Pauses in the midst of sentences, no emotion whatsoever, pure litany...boring and difficult to follow due to the monotone interpretation.
Pity that the other version, so much better read by Frank Muller, is an abbreviated one.

In comparison to the earlier Jack Ryan novels, this didn't even try to show a good side on Chinese culture. It feels a little racist.

Furthermore the old fashioned or very conservative attitude towards women, to not say plain anti-feminism, is quite irritating.

Is this the same author? I begin to wonder...


Besides that:
The geopolitical aspects are very convincing as always. The thought process of the lead characters is reasonable and fits to them (except the first points I made).
