Kade's life is... fine. After the sky falls, it becomes perfect.

One minute Kade was driving home—the next, monsters spill in, reality rewrites itself, and humanity is thrust into a new paradigm. Earth is drafted by the System as a replacement for a dead world, but there's just one problem: humans, the System decides, are underpowered. The fix? Forcing them to level up.

Most people scramble for survival, but Kade plans to thrive. He hunts levels, laughs at danger, and is determined to build something worth saving—partly for humanity, but mostly because this is the most fun he's ever had.

Some call it an apocalypse. Others, an ascension. To Kade, it's heaven.

This book borrows heavily from Savage Sage and not in a way that improves on it. It’s about 10 hours shorter than Savage Sage’s first book, yet suffers from the same flaws. Both main characters are frustratingly dense, both lean on fire magic and close combat, both reluctantly stumble into building factions, and both can’t resist picking fights with things that could easily kill them. Even the love interest setup feels recycled, with a likely faction leader girlfriend in the works. To top it off, they even share the same narrator (who does a solid job, but the similarities just make the overlap more obvious). If you’re going to follow so closely in another story’s footsteps, at least surpass it, this one doesn’t.
