Set during the series,, this book is easily accessible without being up to date on the recently cancelled Lit-Verse. If new releases keep up this quality, I'll be happy and I look forward to reading more from Alex White. I particularly like that the author focuses on characters and keeping the plot moving instead of constantly rehashing what has just happened or spending too much time on explaining fictional science, as some Trek authors tend to do.
The story fits well into the series and adds depth to the background of Dax. It takes place almost exclusively on Trill and doesn't feature the full DS9 cast. The only character whom the author has not fully 'captured' is Worf, who seems a little too calm and docile. Dax, Kira and Bashir, however, come alive as if you are watching the series.
Petkoff is a talented reader as usual. Perfect enunciation, speed and melody, lots of unique voices. The only reason I have given him 4 stars is that his imitations of the original actors are not quite as perfect as with the TOS books. I doubt, however, that anyone could do better.

Good Beginning after the Lit-Verse

Ich bin großer Fan der Serie. Einer meiner wenigen Kritikpunkte dazu war immer, wie die Geschichte um Joran Dax sich weiterentwickelt hatte. In diesem Buch wird das ganze wieder aufgegriffen und in einer wirklich ergreifende Geschichte verpackt. Am Ende wird das ganze vielleicht etwas zu actionlastig und die Auswirkungen sind dafür, dass sie in der Serie nie Erwähnung finden vielleicht etwas zu groß, insgesamt aber ist Revenant ein wirklich packendes Tie-in, das man Deep Space Nine Fans uneingeschränkt empfehlen kann. Der Sprecher der Hörbuch Version ist hervorragend und trifft die Stimmen der bekannten Besatzungsmitglieder auf dem Punkt.
