The whole series was a hard read for me. Though not experiencing quite the level of trauma that these character go though, I still found myself bawling more often then at least 5 times per book. That said, what I love is Ms. Walshes capacity to carry on themes throughout each book, through the lens of so many different perspectives taking into account that people are more knowledgeable, where certain topics pertaining to the lives of their peers, than others. Done not implicitly, but acted out. By far not a reason to hold a book (or series in this case) to a 5 star rating, but one that would add the extra step over it. One of the reasons I find all these books so masterfully written. Generational trauma is most definitely a thing and hope blooms in this type to fiction, in presenting ways in which people are picked up at their point in existence, rather then the destination people love to judge each other and hold accountable to. For failing to achieve recuperation at their time, other then the person in question. Reading this series (though not ended) is like a marrow deep hug, where someone asks you what you need, rather then expect you to take advice which is often rooted in the good will to help, but tainted in the expectation to follow. If you know, you know. Dramatic? Yes, but people go through these circumstances every day. Please read at your own discretion, but know what a gem you have experienced after!

This book was really intense. I almost broke it off a number of times because I just couldn’t take the pain. But oat the same time I couldn’t stop because these characters 🥹💗 Hugh and Liz are amazing, loving, colorful characters and I fell in love with both of them. Only listen to this book if you’re mentally stable. Like really stable and keep an eye out for your own wellbeing. 💗
