Knowing the end of the book by reading the subtext of the sequel Impulse (the are happy married and have a kid it seems) this book becomes unbearable after 2 hours. its really shitty constructed unbearable nonsense.

this nightmarish obduction "episode" is the whole book when it should have lasted only a few pages. knowing it will be all happy it does not make sense to listen.

the author could not put any effort into an intrinsic motivation for this?

evil aliens as the enemy would have been more fun.

do not waste your time with this crap.
