...have you read Pierce Browns Red serie? After this the Red Queen is like a child version, so sadly I didn't enjoyed it as much as I thought I would.

I enjoyed this audiobook. It is well narrated. The story is entertaining, though a bit predictable, at times. The characters are relateable and I definitely wanted to know how things would pan out for everyone, but if you have read similar books, you know where this is going.

The Epilogue made me so mad! The "big twist" was so fricking obvous! Anyway... Not life changing, but not bad either. It’s an entertaining, very YA style dystopia that hits all the familiar beats. The book is filled with rebellions, royalty, and the "chosen one” with trust issues. The book does tackle big themes: class division, propaganda, performative politics, racism. All done in a pretty thoughtful way, even if the delivery felt a little heavy-handed sometimes.

It frustrated me that I saw every single twist coming a mile away... 100% predictible plot. So instead of being shocked, I ended up reading just to confirm how right I was. It took about 60% of the book to feel like the actual plot was kicking in. Before that, it was mostly setup and world building. I get it, but I was ready to move, and I was bored for a while.

I don’t see myself jumping into book two right away, but I’m glad I read this one... it helped get me reading again after a tough month, and that’s always a win. 😊

So Predictible, but entertaining and very YA.
