Scotland, dialect and good crime story. I liked the local flair and the speaker switching between dialects. A bit forseable but not too much.

As you should not expect high literature when clicking on a free cozy crime, this one is well done. I liked it, no complains ;)

Die Geschichte ist gut geschrieben und sehr unterhaltsam. Die Sprecherin hat eine angenehme Stimme und ist gut zu verstehen. Ich freue mich auf den nächsten Teil.

Nette Geschichte, sehr gute Sprecherin, teilweise auch etwas spannend. Genau das Richtige für den Urlaub oder Feierabend.

Yes, the tiring flood of Scottish clichés and the American protagonist's would-be superiority can get on your nerves, but this charming little story is still quite well plotted, equipped with tolerably interesting characters and definitely entertaining.
The narrator manages brilliantly to let the protagonist come to life and also does a fairly good job at imitating the Scottish accent - though her male characters all sound pretty much the same to me.
The ending was a bit weak, leaving a few strings lying forgotten on the floor. It was also a bit of a disappointment that the notorious sex scene the main character (a romance author) kept trying to write never actually did happen. Wrong choice of romantic partner in my view, too, but maybe that's just me.
All in all this book is probably not going to win any literary prizes, but it's a nice holiday or bedtime read.
