At the urging of her best friend, best-selling author Ami Pederson, Eden decides to embark on an open-ended trip to the picturesque village of Glenkillen in the Scottish Highlands, to do some hands-on research for a book of her own. But almost as soon as Eden arrives in the quaint town, she gets caught up in a very real drama....

The town's sheep shearer is found murdered - clipped with his own shears - and the locals suspect Vicki MacBride, an outsider whose father's recent death left her the surprise heir to his lucrative sheep farm. Eden refuses to believe the affable heiress is a murderer, but can she prove that someone is out to frame her new friend before she finds herself on the receiving end of more shear terror?

Scotland, dialect and good crime story. I liked the local flair and the speaker switching between dialects. A bit forseable but not too much.

Die Geschichte ist gut geschrieben und sehr unterhaltsam. Die Sprecherin hat eine angenehme Stimme und ist gut zu verstehen. Ich freue mich auf den nächsten Teil.

Nette Geschichte, sehr gute Sprecherin, teilweise auch etwas spannend. Genau das Richtige für den Urlaub oder Feierabend.

Yes, the tiring flood of Scottish clichés and the American protagonist's would-be superiority can get on your nerves, but this charming little story is still quite well plotted, equipped with tolerably interesting characters and definitely entertaining.
The narrator manages brilliantly to let the protagonist come to life and also does a fairly good job at imitating the Scottish accent - though her male characters all sound pretty much the same to me.
The ending was a bit weak, leaving a few strings lying forgotten on the floor. It was also a bit of a disappointment that the notorious sex scene the main character (a romance author) kept trying to write never actually did happen. Wrong choice of romantic partner in my view, too, but maybe that's just me.
All in all this book is probably not going to win any literary prizes, but it's a nice holiday or bedtime read.

Mir hat die Geschichte gut gefallen. Manche Stellen sind etwas durchschaubar, aber die Story ist charmant. Die Sprecherin mochte ich sehr.

Die Story ist witzig, spannend und jederzeit unterhaltend. Ein weiteres Highlight ist die wirklich hervorragende Sprecherin, die die Charaktere und deren spezielle Eigenheiten beim Sprechen wirklich genial zum Leben erweckt. Eine absolute Empfehlung!!

Super Story, super Sprecherin

Ein kurzweiliges Vergnügen, witzige Situationen und Redewendungen. Schön auch der schottische Lokalkolorit in ländlicher Umgebung. Die Handlung ist gut verständlich, keine Zeitsprünge. Besonders toll fand ich die engagierte Sprecherin, die scheinbar mühelos zwischen sauberem American English und dem lokalen Akzent wechselt. Absolute Empfehlung!

The voice actress dies an amacing job with the voices and the characters. The story is funny yet entertaining and makes you guess till the end. The main character is relateble and down to earth.
