It’s chilling how the story seems to reflect so much of what we have experienced in the last two years of the pandemic. Beautiful storyline. The goodness in humanity is highlighted as we all have seen happen during the pandemic. The narration was amazing.

Eine wundervolle Geschichte. Nach der Hälfte des Buches wollte ich unter die Prepper gehen - aber das Ende lässt mich hoffen, dass die Menschheit besser ist, als die Pessimist*innen denken.

Super geschrieben, cleverer Storyaufbau, lehrreich, interessant, mit Herz, gutes Ende
Auch in Corona gab es viele Beispiele von Nachbarschaftshilfe
Vielleicht wird ja doch nicht jeder zum Mörder für ein Brot, wenn es nichts mehr zu Essen gibt.....
Macht Hoffnung
Und vielleicht sollte man den Rat der Bundesregierung aufgreifen und sich Wasservorrat und haltbares Essen für einige Wochen besorgen.... und noch etwas für den kranken Nachbarn....

Lange nicht mehr solch ein gutes Buch gehört. Der Sprecher DAVID Thorpe ist fantastisch. Es ist ein Genuss, ihm zuzuhören.

Wunderbare Geschichte - ein modernes Märchen. Einzig die „Liebesgeschichte“ darin fand ich nicht nachvollziehbar... sie spielt aber auch eher eine untergeordnete Rolle. Die Geschichte lohnt sich, unbedingt anhören. Toll gelesen, insbesondere ein großes Talent für verschiedene Stimmen, Dialekte und Akzente!

I struggled a little at the beginning of the story (there are a lot of characters and different time lines), but I ended up enjoying the audiobook. Once you can distinguish the different characters they start to grow on you. I especially liked the teacher and the novel writer.
As to the story: I don't want to go into too much detail as to the content, except to say that there are several parallels to the current corona crisis. So if you like catastrophic scenarios and the positive effect social cooperation/selfless acts can have on people/communities, this could be a book for you... If you want to escape the current pandemic this book might be too close to reality.
