Jessica Townsend's writing is very satisfying and her pen masterfully creates a magical world which is mostly unique. A demanding, but satisfying, read, but readers will be readers will be rewarded with an absorbing story, with pace, plot and character aplenty.
I was gripped reading this fantastic, magical adventure.
Magical 'middle-grade' fiction became the hot ticket, in adventures like Jessica Townsend's Nevermoor
I love the characters and how Gemma Wheelan gives them their own distinct voices. I adore her aptitude for different accents.
I personally prefer this series to Harry Potter. Jessica Townsend creates a world that the reader or listener is thrown into at the deep end with quirky twists and turns at every corner. She does so without endless descriptions but paints a picture in the readers mind with a few skilful sentences. The ideas just keep on coming: a hotel that adapts to its occupants, a vampire-dwarf party planner extraordinaire, the giant magnificat with an attitude to match and on and on.
The story is spellbinding to the end and remains immensely enjoyable when listening or reading it a second, third or even tenth time. I have purchased the kindle version alongside the audio book and can highly recommend both.
Go treat yourself to this book and may you enjoy many hours in Nevermoor!

Die Sprecherin spricht ein sehr gut verständliches Englisch. Klar, habe ich nicht jedes Wort verstanden, aber der Erzählung konnte ich gut folgen.
Die Sprecherin bemüht sich den Charaktere in der wörtlichen Rede eigene Stimmen zu geben. Ab und zu hatte ich aber den Eindruck, sie kam dabei durcheinander.
Die Geschichte ist spannend bis zum Schluss. Man fragt sich, was ist das Besondere an dem jungen Mädchen, das bisher nur geächtet und kaum geliebt wurde? Wie kommt sie durch die verschiedenen Abenteuer. Ebenfalls lustig ist die Einflechtung von Dingen aus unserer Welt in die Geschichte von Nevermoor, wie etwa Weihnachten.
Für mich eine klare Kaufempfehlung für Leute, die ihr Englisch auffrischen wollen und Spaß an fantastischen, spannenden Geschichten haben.
Auch für Nicht-Muttersprachler verständlich

Die Lesung brilliert durch typische Stimmen fuer die einzelnen Charaktere. Dies ist im deutschen Hoerbuch nicht der Fall. Vom englischen Hoerbuch erhaelt man deshalb auch eine andere, meiner Meinung nach bessere Vorstellung von den einzelnen Figuren. Der Witz kommt besser an und der Gruselfaktor ist etwas hoeher. Fuer juengere Kinder ist aber das deutsche Hoerbuch durchaus auch empfehlenswert, da es etwas dezenter und weniger dramatisch gelesen wird.
Es ist leider nicht moeglich, die Umlaute zu benutzen.
Hoerenswert! Besser als die deutsche Version.
