Wenn man sich gut unterhalten möchte. Die Geschichte ist gut durchdacht, jedoch nichts absolut ungewöhnliches. Aber wie sie geschrieben ist, die Sprache und der Witz sind unglaublich charmant. Die Sprecherin finde ich großartig. (englische Version)

After listening to the book for the first few pages I was addicted! I love the language, the witty remarks, making me laugh out loud at place, the reader enhances the listening experience a great deal. I love the way the two ladies assist the police and help solve strange cases, I love the way they interact, I love when Lady Hardcastle calls Flo "my tiny servant".
I couldn't wait for book 2. Now I'm in the middle of book 3 and when my next credit is active the first thing I'll do is download it.

Was hat Ihnen am allerbesten an A Quiet Life in the Country gefallen?

It is indeed the best and most charmingly funny crime mystery series I have ever had the pleasure to listen to. Lady Hardcastle and her Ladys maid Flo are just to die for when they snoop around murder and mayhem on the British countryside of the beginning of the last century. Adoringly funny and wickedly smart. Loved by (almost) all of their new friends and neighbors.

Welche Szene hat Ihnen am besten gefallen?

Every time Flo does one of her tricks, someone wants to do her harm or wants to grab her in the wrong way, so she just does some martial arts tricks something or other she picked up from her wolrd travels. Great fun indeed.

Was wäre für andere Hörer sonst noch hilfreich zu wissen, um das Hörbuch richtig einschätzen zu können?

I have just finished the Cherringham series of another author and was desperately looking for something to fill the gap, but now I have found this absolute treasure and can only tell everybody, please listen to this series, if you like smart and funny women and murder without the gory details. I almost did not buy the audiobooks because I rally do not care much for the beginning of last century and how women were treated back then, but these 2 main characters just tear down the barricades very charmingly and witty.

I love everything about this audiobook. The story is lovely, exciting and somewhat cosy (if you know what I mean? Lots of pots of tea featured in the book, maybe that's what it is :) The main characters are very likable and there are plenty of other very diverse characters that make the story so interesting. And the speaker is absolutely fantastic. Fits the story well, does all the different voices really well, so that one actually knows who is "speaking" just by the different voices and really made me want to listen.
I listen to audiobooks when out for a run. This one made me go running more often because I liked it so much!

The characters are brilliant and the book is really well-written but the story is a bit flat. I would have liked a bit of suspense.
The speaker did a wonderful job giving all the different characters fitting voices and accents. Also she has a beautiful and pleasant voice.

I have enjoyed this immensely. If you love the old-fashioned English ways and appreciate a humourous approach to the clash of the classes, this is for you.

Beautiful story, delightfully told

eine wunderbare Geschichte, die neugierig macht auf die Vorgeschichte(n) - wobei ich nicht weiß, ob es die wirklich gibt - und auf das weitere "ruhige Landleben", dessen Beginn hier erzählt wird.
Durch die verschiedenen Dialekte und Sprechweisen der unterschiedlichen "Klassen" ist es eine Herausforderung, dem Hörbuch als Fremdsprachler zu folgen und ich gebe zu, daß ich an ein paar Stellen trotz mehrfacher Wiederholung Wörter und Wendungen nicht verstanden habe, aber das stört nicht den Ablauf der Geschichte.
Ein Genuss!
