In one of the most acclaimed novels of recent years, Kazuo Ishiguro imagines the lives of a group of students growing up in a darkly skewed version of contemporary England.

Narrated by Kathy, now 31, Never Let Me Go dramatizes her attempts to come to terms with her childhood at the seemingly idyllic Hailsham School and with the fate that has always awaited her and her closest friends in the wider world. A story of love, friendship, and memory, Never Let Me Go is charged throughout with a sense of the fragility of life.

All a bit slow to me. Miss some pregnant moments. Don’t need to be some crazy stuff but just a bit vivid

A bit slow

So viel besser als der Film und toll gesprochen! Die Charaktere sind unglaublich vielschichtig und die Story regt zum Denken an. Was ist richtig was ist falsch? Manchmal gibt es keine klare Grenze.

This was actually a real surprise, the story was not what I was expecting, but turns out that this was a positive experience. Beautifully narrated, the novel is at its heart a moving story of relationships but set in a distopian world.

A beautifully told story
