Absolutely great to listen to!!!

This is a wonderful piece of art to listen to. On the one hand the story is sometimes sad and cruel, on the other hand it has a certain wittiness. B. Dunn has a fitting/suiting voice- in total: highly recommendable!

A pleasure to listen

Listening to Ms Dunn is a pleasure. I read this book in German too but the audiobook in English is more fascinating because of the reader. It is easy to understand even for English learners on intermediate level. Don't hesitate to brush up your English with this book!

Wundervoll

Ich hab mich einzig und allein wegen dieses Hörbuchs hier angemeldet und ich habe es nicht bereut. Ich kannt bereits den Film und das deutsche Buch, aber nichts davon kommt an diese Lesung heran.

Zuerst hat mich der Umstand der Sprache etwas abgeschreckt, da ich mir nicht sicher war, dass ich alles verstehen würde, aber diese Bedenken waren vollkommen unberechtigt. Das Englisch ist gut verständlich und die Sprecherin macht ihre Arbeit außergewöhnlich gut.
Man kann einfach zu hören und träumen und das meine ich wirklich.
Ich habe dieses Hörbuch schon öfter gehört als jedes meiner Anderen und ich kann (und werde) es mir immer wieder anhören.
Absolut zu empfehlen (auch für die Menschen, die englischen Hörbuchern etwas skeptisch gegenüber stehen)

how do they make a movie out of this?

My girlfriend read the book in two days and was so overwhelmed, I had to get it - since I am travelling a lot: audiobook had to be it. I was a bit uneasy: it's a girl's story ... no, it isn't. Although it has slightly lengthy passages, language is used to very beautifully to describe situations so that I already have my 'movie' in my head - and this is to me a sign of quality, because it obviously cought my phantasy. I enjoyed it a lot, learning a bit (but not too much) of Japanese culture and sure enough, Geishas.
I can recommend this book, although I really had to get used to the voice of the reader, which is good, but to some extent strange ..

highly recommendable

This is a kind of a quiet amd sad story, and I must admit that it took me a little time to adjust to it. I really came to like it after that, it is well written, and also very well read. Arthur Golden masters the difficult art of writing in the first person. His descriptions of a young girl were very convincing so I felt for Sayuri and also the other characters were very believable. At the same time, I enjoyed learning about the Japanese culture. I can definitely recommend this audio book!

Amazing story but...

Captivating tale full of emotional moments and vivid pictures. But the speaker sounds computer generated and not human.

What a great story!

Unbelievably great book! I was really absorbed by it and enjoyed it so much. At first I was a bit irritated by the reader but soon I realized how well she matched the protagonist. I can highly recommend this book to anyone.

Noch viel besser als der Film! Werde ich auf jeden Fall wieder und wieder anhören!

Zum zweiten Mal gehört und ....

..... noch genauso gut wie beim ersten Mal. Es transportiert mich vollkommen in die andere Welt.

A wonderfully beautiful story

The author takes us on an incredible journey of the life of a geisha. Towards the end of this book, I could not stop listening. I highly recommend this story.
