Free-spirited and easygoing Taylor Vandenberg left her hometown of Faircombe, Tennessee, as soon as she could, and in the twenty-five years since, she has rarely looked back. She wouldn't change anything about how her life has turned out—having traveled to nearly every country, never staying anywhere long enough to feel stifled. Very few things can hold her attention back in Faircombe: her sister/best friend, her precocious niece, and perhaps the prospect of riling up Brooke Watson.

Brooke has known Taylor for her entire life, given that her best friend is Taylor's younger brother. And a lifelong knowledge of Taylor means that Brooke knows she's trouble: irresponsible, takes nothing seriously, and irritatingly attractive. Unlike Taylor, Brooke loves their town so much that she's spent her adult life dedicated to making sure it doesn't get swept away like many of the other declining small cities of the American South. Absolutely loved the narration in this. Anastasia Watley manages to breathe so much life, smirk and character into the people she gives a voice to, it's easy to imagine the book like a movie! Her voice in general is very gorgeous and the book is well written and a nice slow burn :) Happy I found this one!

Die Charaktere wirken sympathisch und echt, auch weil die (Liebes-) Geschichte sich mal nicht schnell aufs Ziel zubewegt, sondern dich in aller Ruhe entwickelt. Viele schöne und berührende Sätze gibt es. Exzellent geschrieben. Und - Die Sprecherin liest klar und sehr angenehm!

What I love about Haley Cass's books is that you get a real feel of the community and social circle the main characters are surrounded by, it's never only about the love story - it's also about home and family and friendship.. and the author is just really good at making ALL of the characters come to life in a 3 dimensional way. There was no unnecessary drama in this book, instead all characters' intentions were clear and believable with regard to their unique personalities. The mains have great chemistry and I loved their banter - which sometimes seems to go on forever (resulting in the rather great length of this book) but I didn't mind that since I found it so enjoyable I often couldn't help but grin or laugh out loud.
I think the narrator did a wonderful job as well!

Ich habs geliebt den Hin und Her von Taylor und Brook zuzuhören. Ich musste glaube noch nie so oft mitlachen in einem Hörbuch. Ganz tolles Buch! Die Story war ebenfalls sehr schön und man fühlte sich mit den Charakteren verbunden, auch die Nebencharaktere. Die Sprecherin hat ebenfalls einen super Job gemacht! Ich mag es ihrer Stimme wirklich gern zu lauschen und sie hat die Charaktere meiner Meinung nach sehr gut gesprochen. Dieses Buch ist auf jedenfalls in meiner Favoritensammlung mit dabei! Gerne wieder!

The story had me hooked from the first minute. Maybe predictable but never boring or linear in any way. The characters are well written and narrated. The only thing I was surprised with was the age of the two main characters. I couldn't really see them in their 40s to me it felt more natural if they were in their 30s for some reason. It was my first audiobook by Haley Cass and I will come back for more. Anastasia Watley did a great job narrating. I enjoyed her soft and gentle voice it was easy to listen to.
