The first book by legendary vet James Herriot, set in 1930's Yorkshire.

When the newly qualified vet, James Herriot, arrives in the small Yorkshire village of Darrowby, he has no idea of the new friends he will meet or adventures that lie ahead.

From the author whose books inspired the BBC series All Creatures Great and Small, this first volume of unforgettable memoirs chronicles James Herriot's first years as a country vet, with the signature storytelling magic that has made him a favourite the world over.

Here is a book for all those who find laughter and joy in animals, and who know and understand the magic of wild places and beautiful countryside.

Well, to be honest, I haven't heard the audiobook yet but I heard others out of this marvellous collection of Herriot books and they are all so very nicely written. The language, the picturesque landscape that he describes so beautifully that you can actually see the clouds full of rain hanging above the countryside, which dazzles you with all those shades of green.
As a German, who once lived and studied in England for 2 years, I want to preserve my English and how to do this better than to listen to the lovely voice of Christopher Timothy. As I am going to become a veterinarian myself, this is just the perfect fit.
So put the kettle on and relax on a windy autumn afternoon listening to James Herriots stories!

Just so beautiful!
