What an amazing audiobook this good have been. The speaker is marvelous but the background sounds are for example artificially produced bird chirping which repeats in a predictable and repetitive manner. Once you have picked up on the pattern, you cannot overhear it again. What a dissapointing and total mess! How can someone book the best speaker and ruin the production like this... :(

Whoever thought it would be a good idea to obliterate Stephen Fry's performance by adding the most annoying and random background noises should honestly reevaluate their choice of profession. My subjective experience of this ranged from mildly infuriating to actually having to skip chapters. There are a couple of minutes where the same effing chirping bird sound that has nothing to do with the acutal scene just plays every 5 seconds?!

why on earth anyone would have thought it would be a good idea to ruin the reading by putting in stupid sound effects is beyond me. Stephen Fry is the master of narrating so why would you need sound effects that have apparently been put there by an overexited two-year old? it ruins the whole thing. get rid of them.
