5⭐️ Another MM romance done right. I loved this. Wow. The way Rina Kent writes the Dynamics without projecting stereotypical “feminine” features or behaviors onto one of the MMCs is simply perfect imo. I know it should be the bare minimum because that’s how MM romances irl work as well, but I fear Authors and Writers tend to forget and keep thinking of straight stereotypes (Not always of course but you get what i’m saying). Obviously relationships exist where a man acts in a stereotypical feminine way, but that’s simply not how every same sex relationship works.
So I’m so very happy that in all Three MM books Rina Kent has written so far it has been perfectly executed. AND STILL THE DYNAMICS WEREN’T THE SAME IN ALL OF THEM. IT STILL VARIED. Especially in the Dark Romance setting I rarely see it done in general. AND THEN LIKE THIS?! wow wow wow. 10/10.

Now to the story itself!
Vaughn and Yulian fit so well together honestly. I love their story especially the beginning of it all and the impact it had on their lives until they’ve met again. Vaughn being with that woman (trying my hardest not to insult her) and Yulian being kind of stuck up on what happened. I also love their Dynamic the way they cancel each other out in a way no one else can. Vaughn listening to Yulian yap on about literally anything at all times. They have my heart honestly. I love them sm.
AND KIRILL AND SASHA GAHHH. I DIED. I love them so much and they’re such great parents. I expected nothing less. Love love love.
I kind of expected to see more of Gareth and Niko in this but the more I think about it the more it makes sense like this actually.

After absolutely obsessing over Kiss the Villain, my anticipation for this installment was sky-high—and oh boy… it was even better. And that says a lot, because book one was already a solid five-star read for me.

I honestly don’t know how Rina Kent does it, but she nails every part of a romance. The dark elements are genius, the spice is delicious, the banter is hilarious, and the world-building, family ties, friendships, and characters are just brilliant.
Check, check, check, and check. Dang… so good. And I have to admit—her MM stories are next level.

🎧 Narration
The narration was once again beyond spectacular. I love duet narrations with full cast. They are just another level.
Grayson Owens’ narration in the previous book was absolutely outstanding, and he did the same here, bringing Vaughn’s composed and controlled character to life so effortlessly.

But dear god… Teddy Hamilton 🫠
I’m a huge huge huge fan—but his performance as these unhinged, obsessive, slightly cuckoo but loving characters just kills me every single time.😍
He didn’t just bring Yulian to life—I felt every bit of emotion imaginable. The unhinged thoughts, the infatuation, the anger, the vulnerability, the love, the pain… everything. I didn’t just hear this story—I felt every second of it.❤️

So perfect. And honestly? These books should really only be experienced in audio. They elevate the entire story by millions.

👤 Characters
I am living for Yulian and Nikolai types.
Unfiltered, unhinged, hotheaded—but fiercely loyal. Chaotic, hilarious, slightly feral with those golden retriever puppy vibes underneath the menace, and carrying their heart on their sleeves.

Yulian is literally the blueprint for that, and I was sooo entertained by his chapters—his inner monologues? Completely unhinged and hilarious.

Then there’s Vaughn, his complete opposite—composed, level-headed, organized, reserved, controlled, only using violence when necessary, but just as loyal. They complemented each other perfectly.

Their dynamic reminded me a lot of Nikolai and Brandon from God of Fury (one of my absolute top reads). I loved the years of yearning and pining—Yulian being open about it, while Vaughn kept everything inside. Vaughn’s reservations frustrated me at times, but both of them gave as good as they got. Despite all the banter and aggression, the tension was insanely high, and their chemistry? Perfect.

📖 Story & Writing
Dark, intense, twisted—and yes, toxic at times—but addictively brilliant.
Some parts were uncomfortable and very intense, but that’s exactly what Rina Kent does so well—writing characters covered in red flags, yet making you fall in love with them anyway.

My only minor critique is that a few scenes could have been more detailed and action-packed. The rescue scenes—especially when Vaughn and his family save Yulian—felt a bit brushed over, even though they had so much potential for added intensity. I also would have loved a more satisfying end for Yulian’s father.

✨ Also—can we talk about the cameos??
Seeing characters from other books, especially Nikolai from God of Fury, was such a highlight. And getting a glimpse of his HEA with Bran in this book? SO satisfying. Such an amazing bonus for fans of the series.

🔥 Spice
Very hot 🔥 but different from book one.
Less unhinged, less power imbalance—this time they were more eye to eye, which fit their dynamic perfectly.
