Dieses Buch ist eine sehr persönliche Beschreibung warum der Autor sich auf die lange Reise des Apalachian Trails (AT) begibt.

Nach dem tragischen Verlust seiner Frau nach 32 Ehejahren reift der Entschluss sich auf den Trail zu begeben. Der Autor gibt einen sehr persönlichen Einblick in den großen Verlust. Es ist dem Zuhörer daher sehr leicht nachzuvollziehen, wie sich das Buch entwickelt.

Einmal auf dem Trail geht es nicht nur um die Beschreibung des Trails sondern auch um die Mitwanderer und alles was damit zusammenhängt,

Ein kurzweiliges, gut zu verstehendes Buch - sehr empfehlenswert.

This is a touching, entertaining and motivating story. I enjoyed listening to this adventure and am sad the book ended already after only nine hours. I am curious how Paul’s life continued after this experience.

Having hiked trails around the world from Patagonia to the North Cape, the subject intrigued me. And while the book itself promised to take me on a journey, the narrator forced me to abandon the trip after about one hour, never to come back. A high-pitched, monotone voice without emotion or tonal variation, whether the story-teller grunts thru driving rain or is elated by a view from a mountaintop, races thru the pages apparently wanting to end the chore before Stutzman arrives in Maine. It is a pity that this listener was lost long before he could once and for all identify with the main character.
Well, well ... there is always the printed edition.

I have hundreds of audio books in my library, this one beats all in terms of worst writing (imagine a 5th grade report of "My summer vacation") and worst speaker imaginable. This guy sounds like he has a clothes pin on his nose. Too painful to listen to, both content wise and sound wise. Why oh why do narrators like this even get accepted for the task???
