When homicide detective Dexter J. Daley’s testimony helps send his partner away for murder, the consequences—and the media frenzy—aren’t far behind. Dex fears he’ll get transferred from the Human Police Force’s Sixth Precinct, or worse, get dismissed. Instead, his adoptive father—a sergeant at the Therian-Human Intelligence Recon Defense Squadron otherwise known as the THIRDS—pulls a few strings, and Dex gets recruited as a Defense Agent.

Dex is determined to get his life back on track and eager to get started in his new job. But his first meeting with Team Leader Sloane Brodie, who also happens to be his new jaguar Therian partner, turns disastrous. When the team is called to investigate the murders of three HumaniTherian activists, it soon becomes clear to Dex that getting his partner and the rest of the tightknit team to accept him will be a lot harder than catching the killer - and every bit as dangerous.

Eine richtig gute Story in der es um Toleranz und Akzeptanz geht. So spannend und mit solch einem fantastischen Cliffhanger, dass man sofort den zweiten Teil kaufen muss!
Der Sprecher ist gut zu verstehen und bringt sowohl die sanften wie auch die harten Töne glaubhaft rüber. Bin gespannt, ob Frau Cochet es schafft, dieses extrem hohe Niveau aufrecht zu erhalten.

This was my first shifter book I read and I loved it! At first I wasn't sure if I liked the shifting part but it was described very well and as a very intimate process.
The plot is good and although I'm not overly into police / crime stories, I was thrilled by this one! The crime which the main characters need to solve is thrilling and you reeeaally want to know who's behind all this.

The love story is sweet and boy oh boy is it sexy 😊
Dex and Sloane are super hot but also so cute 😍

I loved listening to the narrator's voice, he did a good job in distinguishing the characters during the dialogue.

Overall: 5 stars, would definitely read / listen to again and will definitely read the second book. 👍
