I'm not usually a big fan of “mated” stories, but this one is quite entertaining and I really liked the world building. The supporting characters and secondary storylines whet your appetite for the next installment in the series. My only criticism would be that the book is quite short compared to its competitors; I think they could have done more with it. I also think the cover artwork is terrible, but that's a matter of taste. I really like the narrator, though; for once, it's not one of the usual suspects.
