lovely final chapter of an epic trilogy

Final part of a modern saga stretching over 100 years of history. Interesting and multifold plot based in the US, USSR, UK and both Germanies. Nicely intertwined family drama covering the most dramatic events of Cold War from a personal view of the family characters involved. Superb narrator!

Captivating and multi-faceted end of a sequel

Part 3 of the Century Trilogy is difficult to compare with the first two books of the series. While part 1 and 2 had thrilling stories and strong protagonists, book 3 contains a lot of distinctly unlovable characters, some characters from obscure family lines and characters with unlikely life stories. Some characters from the previous instalments on the other hand disappear without explanation or further mention, as if they never existed (Erik von Ulrich for example).

The end of book 3 felt very rushed. While a major part of the story is set in the 60s, the story ends with a giant time leap from the fall of the Berlin wall to President Obama's election thus leaving a lot of loose ends.

I always enjoy John Lee's reading and this book was no exception. My only criticism is that the accents of the non- native speakers - as in book 1 and 2 - were very overdone.

Having said all that, Edge of Eternity is still a good book which I enjoyed, it's just not the kind of page-turner the first two parts of the Century Trilogy were.

Wieder mal eine wunderbare Geschichtsstunde verpackt in den Mantel eines grandiosen Romans. Konnte das Hörspiel kaum pausieren, so spannend ist auch der dritte und letzte Teil der Jahrhundert-Saga.
An alle, die die anderen beiden Bände nicht kennen: Sie sind keinesfalls Voraussetzung für das Verständnis dieses Teils, aber lohnen sich genauso.

... throughout the 20th century. Great way to learn history. Pity though that Mr. Follet‘s (in my opinion) sometimes wrong opinions more than shine through.
He touched so many topics but left out the scourge of the second half of the century: abortion, especially when it is so much targeting black people in the US.

What can be said other than this is the most amazing conclusion to the Century Trilogy I could have imagined. Having personal and family connections in nearly every country in the narrative takes it really close to my heart. I found myself fighting back tears quite often.

My favorite audio book so far. John lees different accents are really nice, and the story itself is great. Read the books some years ago and loved them, now the audio books as well.

Well, I have been there in Berlin at the F*** wall in Nov 1989 and was again deeply moved by KF's story. His description of the political and by means of the Iron Wall physical division of the world and especially Europe brings to mind a few of those tragedies that arouse from this non-humane pride of the right political concept on both sides. Thank God nothing even worse developed from it...

Ken Follett's epic drama makes for a wonderful audiobook that doesn't ever get boring. John Lee is doing an amazing job at narrating and all in all it's very worth listening to!

Great story for telling the naked truth about astonishing historical developments and facts, enwraped in family histories which encompass all three parts of this trilogy.
