I like this style. Well grounded and good researched.
Rather violent, but it’s not too much. There is a lot of human collateral damage inside this book.
A great mystery and a few happy love stories.

What impacted on me the most was the feeling expressed. This story goes deeper. And that was very nice.

There were new persons integrated and known ones altered, most for the best. The Duchess and Hurst are my favorites in this category.

The Love stories came off a little short in my opinion, but that’s ok. I do not think this audiobook is too long. Stayed interesting till the end.
The narrator does a good job and even sings nearly in tune😉, only the female voices take getting used to.

... despite a lot of death and violence. Not a bad concept with the two generations of three families. But too much inane conversation and too much people who were geniuses or otherwise nearly perfect to the point of being caricatures.

A villain who was also nearly omnipotent and gave up his title for no discernable reason.

Cut it in half and it could be a solid 3 star. The narrator is ok but the female voices are just worse with male narrators than the male voices from (most) female narrators.

Relatively low angst....
