When Detective Inspector Bridget Hart returns to her old Oxford college for a reunion dinner, she's hoping for a fun weekend catching up with old friends. But the reunion takes a macabre turn when body parts are served up at the college feast, and one of her friends is found murdered.

With Bridget's arch rival Inspector Baxter leading the murder inquiry, and herself a potential suspect, Bridget is forbidden from taking part in the investigation. But that doesn't stop her from carrying out her own private inquiries.

Bridget soon realizes that the murderer is someone known to her. And as the weekend continues and more bodies are found, it becomes clear that they will stop at nothing to get what they want. Although the private live of the heroine is steadily working its way forward, her professional involvement could not have more twists - so far.

Third book - still a new story

The story is gripping, not too much violence. The narrator is perfect. She intimates different characters. Can’t wait to hear the next book.

Awesome, just like the three books previously

I really enjoyed the plot, setting and interesting protagonists. Bridget is really growing on me! A few of the repetitive comments from book 1 through to book 3 could be left out now. I don’t think it’s necessary to remind us of her broken marriage, abducted sister or her weight issues in every story. Still a very enjoyable listen!

A very novel approach to the third case for DI Hart and thoroughly entertaining. A very well thought out plot with the usual quality in character development.

At the beginning I was somewhat sceptical, but as the plot developed it turned out to be a good experience. Esther Wane does a good job with her characters

Hab mich gut und kurzweilig unterhalten gefühlt. Tolle Sprecherin, sympathische Protagonistin. Freu mich schon auf den nächsten Band der Reihe.

The Bridget Hart series offers very enjoyable, well thought out and good, clean English detective stories. The characters are realistic and well presented, the description of Oxford very vivid and there are even some unexpected and exciting moments. The reader adjusts her voice very well to the different characters without exaggeration. All in all a very pleasant and recommendable listen.
