Want a mix of Hunger Games and Fourth Wing, just better? This stunning audiobook provides it! Some, including me, might call the revelation at the end foreseeable, but other plot twists and developments aren't. The narrator's performance is amazing, enchanting. Seldom have I been more excited about an audiobook. Great work, really. Waiting for the next part.

Do yourself a favor — listen to this audiobook. Do yourself an even bigger favor and wait until next spring, so you don’t have to suffer through the excruciating wait for the sequel.

I was told this would have strong Fourth Wing vibes — and I agree, but in the best possible way. Sure, there are elements you’ll recognize if you’ve read a few books in the genre, but it still feels fresh and exciting.

Meryn! Finally not a teeny-tiny 18-year-old virgin girl. She’s 23, tall, and an absolute badass. I grew very fond of her — even if I didn’t agree with every single decision, none of them felt out of character.

Killian / Lee — jeez. I tried so hard in the beginning to like him, because something just felt off. He didn’t behave like a green flag but an entire green forest; he was so good, it threw me off (teehee, I was right). Now I’m ACHING to know if he really loves Meryn in his completely twisted way — and what his plan for her actually is!

Stark? Yes please, all the way. The tent scene — OMG. The only flaw: it was way too obvious that their wolves are mates.

The plot was plotting, and the spice was SPICING. For real, this book was so well-paced, I devoured it and was just SO happy it was long. The spice — despite me hating Killian a little now — was amazing?? Gabriel Michael might honestly be my new favorite narrator ever. Can we talk about how PERFECT it is when female voices are done by women and male ones by men? It adds SO much to the experience. Avery Caris was fantastic too — both of them were truly sublime. I’ll be here, suffering and waiting for book 2.

Finally a good book again, wow. Such a rich story…plot is not as easy to predict like so many others this days, highly recommend!
The main character is sometimes a bit stubbornly dumb-ish, but humanly.
One don't need to like the main character or like some parts or decisions they make as long as they feel human, unpredictable, understandable. Not that I didn't like the MC, but damn is she stubborn haha
As an book editor having many books under my nose each year, I have to say: Yeah it's a good book, read or listen to it, you won't be disappointed 😌

Ok, so this isn’t a new innovation in romantasy. BUT this book does most things very well: banter, found family, slow burn, bonding & mates, vampires vs. wolfs, intrigues, riddles and something I won’t spoiler... I could predict most of the twists, but they were still enjoyable, because they are done so damn well. Most call this a fun read and I agree. Except for the cliffhanger… can’t wait for the next book (hope it doesn’t suffer from second book syndrome!).

The FMC is in her twenties and this is definitely adult romantasy. ATTENTION: There is some very graphic violence/torture, rough spice and kidnapping of children.

The voice actors did a great job, especially the woman.
