The FMC has a multi-dimensional personality - she is ruthless, strong, fearless, kind and emotional. The author did a great job portraying a strong female, but a woman nonetheless.
I'll admit though, she's a tad stubborn and quite mean with the MMC which frustrated me a lot, and he is the most patient man I've seen (I'd kill for a man with that level of emotional intelligence and love for me!). Given her background, and what she was thought, her actions and stubbornness make some sense, so I'll give you that.
The main plot twist is predictable, there are so many hints throughout the book that it became far too obvious and it took away the "wow" factor when it was revealed. The ending felt a bit anti-climatic for some reason, and I don't really feel the urge to continue the series despite having liked this book (the low rating of the 2nd one and the story "hook" don't really entice me).
Last but not least, the narrator does a great job impersonating the characters.

I tried this audiobook since it was included in the audible abo and I had already read and enjoyed the Pherspepone and Hades series by this author.
The story is something different though. overall I liked it, but couldn't connect with the main characters as I did with the other book series. It was still interesting how the plot developed.
You will definitely find court affairs, hidden conspiracy and a steamy 🔥 enemies to lovers storyline. The heroine Isolde is strong, confident and stands her women while trying to figure out her conflicting emotions.
there were parts of the plot I didn't understand fully, but I guess they will revealed I'm the second book.
For the second book I'm planning to switch from audiobook to ebook. The male POV at the end of the book was awfully narrated. I don't think I would enjoy a dual pov in book two with this voice.
