I'm not sure if it's just me but I only really understood in the last chapter - and damn I had goosebumps practically for half an hour straight! That's the right way to end a book! Up until the last sentence the suspense and confusion was almost unbearable and it felt like Sera and I were on the same boat on that topic.
As for the characters: Nyktos and Sera felt a lot like Poppy and Cas to me in the beginning, or maybe that was what I expected... it took me a while but I came to love them individually and they could fill a book on their personalities and Backstories alone (which is kind of what the first bit is for Sera)
Our favourite Primal also got quite the story, though it's not exactly talked about in a lot of detail. I would guess we'll get to know more about him as the series continues and Sera starts truly getting to know him and their bond strengthens.
The supporting characters aren't very memorable in my opinion, only a few truly stuck with me and none were very important apart from maybe three of them. I guess most of them simply serve to get the plot going and it seems like their main point was to 1. show how our MCs interact with their surroundings and loved ones and 2. to explain how the world works. This is fine by me, since the focus here is the relationship between Nyktos and Sera and how the world in FBAA came to be as we know it - I would have appreciated a little more fleshed out side characters though.
Some of the situations don't make a whole lot of sense to me at the moment or I just can't figure out how they served the story... At this point I hope that it'll be talked about in further books - since it seems to me like nothing is written without some sort of purpose.
What I absolutely loved was how everything sort of fell into place in the end! This is also where you realize that nothing is truly placed anywhere without a cause. When I say my jaw was on the floor multiple times in the last few chapters, I'm not exaggerating!
Like I said, I wasn't expecting to love this but I'm now very excited to see where JLA will take us with these two lovable new characters in the next book!
I'm not sure if I even have to mention it but I love Stina Nielsen and I think she did a phenomenal job as always !

I love to learn how the story that casteel and poppy in the blood and ash series only seemed to be scratching the surface really is. It’s kind of a prequel to that series. The love story between Sera and Niktos do have some similarities to the poppy casteel story in the sense of pretending to be someone they are not etc. Don’t want to spoiler too much ;). Poppy and sera also have similarities in character which makes sense as sera is poppies grandmother if I didn’t get it completely wrong so that’s very cute. Also nice that some characters appear again so you get the feeling that you are still also hearing a part of the blood and ash series that I can’t wait to come out with the next book. Like blood and ash it has spicy scenes as well but I love it.
Overall great book and story can’t wait to hear more
