Ich habe mir das Hörbuch auf Empfehlung zum Thema Enemys to Lovers gekauft. Leider kam die Anziehung der beiden Charaktere bei mir nicht an. Die Geschichte ist witzig und mal etwas Anderes als die klassischen Romantasies. Allerdings konnte ich mich mit der Sprecherin nicht anfreunden. Die Stimme ist toll aber die Betonung fand ich persönlich stellenweise grauenhaft. Ich hatte extra in den 2. Band reingehört, weil ich wissen wollte, ob sich das im Laufe der Geschichte gibt. Im 2. fand ich es auch merklich besser, nur habe ich im ersten Teil leider vergeblich darauf gewartet, dass es besser wird.

Absolutely loved the story. The dynamic between the two main characters is fantastic. Highly recommend. Only thing I didn’t quite enjoy too much was the speaker she voices male characters in a very distinct way that I personally find too over the top. Still enjoyable though

It hooked me from the First 5 minutes on. Great sarcasm, great Charakters and a good Story. Looking forward to the next one.

It was at first very hard to concentrate on the story because of the way the speaker dragged out every last word.

Das ist das erste Buch, das ich in 1,2 fachen Geschwindigkeit hören musste - wer Hannah von TikTok kennt und ihre quirlige Art, wird bei der langsamen Sprechgeschwindigkeit der Vorleserin etwas verzweifeln. Ein Glück, dass man das Tempo hochdrehen kann, dann ist es gut hörbar und besonders die einzelnen Stimmen bekommt die Sprecherin sehr gut hin. :)

Hannah liefert genau was sie verspricht, einen quirligen, lustigen Roman, der mich oft an eine Telenovela erinnert hat. Herzschmerz, schockierende Wendungen, knallbunte Charaktere, Drachen und die obligatorischen Köpfe im Foyer. Es gibt ein Wiedersehen mit längst liebgewordnen Figuren, die sich mit reichlich Wortgefechten durch eine ereignisreiche Handlung hangeln. Sogar die ursprüngliche Kurzgeschichtenstruktur blitzt noch durch, auch wenn die Handlung oft andere Wege einschlägt, als die ursprüngliche TikTok Serie.
Sicher erwartet hier niemand einen Roman mit großem Tiefgang und epischer Erzählweise. Und das ist auch gut so. The Assistant to the Villain ist die perfekte gute Laune Lektüre für alle, die etwas zum Schmunzeln suchen.

Ich freuen mich auf Teil 2 und die Verfilmung.

Wer Hanna von TikTok kennt, wird nicht enttäuscht

I loved the mix between banter, fun and villainous in this book. Hannah Nicole Maeher did an amazing job giving life and quirks to each individual character. I've read the book and the audio book and both just got me hooked from the start. Since then I've been searching for similar books, but haven't been able to find one, as this one is light, charming and a bit silly, but still has this amazing storyline and slow burn between Evie and the Villain.

…of a somewhat ridiculous story and absolutely decent writing. I was skeptical at first - with the story and the speaker - but now that I finished this audiobook I have to say that I really enjoyed it. A job well done on both sides and I definitely recommend this production.

Good book to relax and giggle at, but I’ve listened to two books now and the story never feels finished, like it’s just a book split in three without any regard to wether or not it makes sense to be a book. It’s fun and all, but I don’t think I’ll be listening to the third book.
