Obwohl sich Chernow der Figur Hamiltons - eine der schillerndsten und vor allem unterschätztesten der US Geschichte - mit quasi-wissenschaftlicher Präzision und Objektivität nähert, ist es ihm gelungen, eine sehr unterhaltsame Biograhpie zu liefern. Vor allem seine Gabe, wörtliche Zitate gekonnt einzubeziehen und damit eine ironische Distanz zu Hamilton und seinen Widersachern (Jefferson und Madison bekommen ihr Fett weg) herzustellen, ist selten zu finden. Sprachlich ist Chernow auf ganz hohem Niveau: präzis und totzdem äußert gewandt. Scott Brick liest sehr angenehm. Ich habe keine Minute der 36 Stunden bedauert.
