Brought to you by Penguin.

Was there a beginning of time? Could time run backwards? Is the universe infinite or does it have boundaries?

These are just some of the questions considered in the internationally acclaimed masterpiece by the world renowned physicist - generally considered to have been one of the world's greatest thinkers.

It begins by reviewing the great theories of the cosmos from Newton to Einstein, before delving into the secrets which still lie at the heart of space and time, from the Big Bang to black holes, via spiral galaxies and strong theory. To this day A Brief History of Time remains a staple of the scientific canon and its succinct and clear language continues to introduce millions to the universe and its wonders.

Kritikerstimmen

"This book marries a child's wonder to a genius's intellect. We journey into Hawking's universe while marvelling at his mind." (The Sunday Times)

"Lively and provocative.... Mr. Hawking clearly possesses a natural teacher's gifts--easy, good-natured humor and an ability to illustrate highly complex propositions with analogies plucked from daily life." (The New York Times)

Super interesting and nicely served if you're into this kind of stuff. Highly recommend to anyone who likes to learn more about the mysteries of our universe.

Super interesting

It was interesting to learn about how much we have discovered about the universe and our ongoing quest for the ultimate understanding of the origin and the laws of universe. Some parts of the book were a bit difficult for me to understand since i am not a physicist, but mostly it was nicely explained that a person with high-school physics knowledge can follow.

Overall an interesting read!

Not reviewing the quality of the book itself here. I just want to point out that this edition excludes quite a number of chapters that are included in the physical versions: The original Carl Sagan introduction, the two subsequent ones by Mr Hawkins, all the chapters after the conclusion and, of course, the appendix. I find that unsatisfying.

Incomplete edition

throughout all 3 years of highschool I hadn't understood as much about astrophysics! it's so simple and describes so much. I didn't want it to end, I want to know more

easy to understand

Really challenging for non physics geniuses. Not many people out there to discuss about this book. It simply shows how small normal people are in knowing what human kind knows and how unbelievably smart people like Einstein, Plank, etc and Hawkins will have been ;-) grammatically in line with one of the several open string theories

Mindblowing!
