Brought to you by Penguin.

Was there a beginning of time? Could time run backwards? Is the universe infinite or does it have boundaries?

These are just some of the questions considered in the internationally acclaimed masterpiece by the world renowned physicist - generally considered to have been one of the world's greatest thinkers.

It begins by reviewing the great theories of the cosmos from Newton to Einstein, before delving into the secrets which still lie at the heart of space and time, from the Big Bang to black holes, via spiral galaxies and strong theory. To this day A Brief History of Time remains a staple of the scientific canon and its succinct and clear language continues to introduce millions to the universe and its wonders.

Skittles

Listened to the audio book and went through every chapter twice. Still I kind of got the Skittles rainbow effect, super interesting and fascinating at first but then it soon just gets too much even though I'm not exactly new to the genre.

I liked it anyway. Hawking had an amazing mind and was able to bring complicated matters down to Earth.

Will definitely give this book another go in a few years time. Oh and also I can't believe this book is already as old as me.

Sehr spannende Einführung in unser Universum

Sehr spannende Einführung in unser Universum. Stephen Hawking verstand es, hochkomplexe Zusammenhänge mitreißend aufzubereiten. Auch ohne Vorwissen in Astronomie und Physik hörbar.

A great introduction to modern physics

This book opened my eyes to new possibilities. But the narration was a little slow, and void of emotions. I have listened to many non fiction books, but the narrator always made the book exciting by changing the tone and speed of the narration. This made the overall experience a little boring

A fun read even for those who don't like physics

Interesting & informative book.
Favorite chapters: about time & wormholes.
Great narrator with clear & smooth voice.

Mindblowing!

Really challenging for non physics geniuses. Not many people out there to discuss about this book. It simply shows how small normal people are in knowing what human kind knows and how unbelievably smart people like Einstein, Plank, etc and Hawkins will have been ;-) grammatically in line with one of the several open string theories

An Impression of the Universe

A wonderful Insight into physics, even though I personally have no knowledge of physics at all. I listened right through and was thrilled by learning about gravity, time, atoms, particles, dimensions, velocity, boundaries, infinity, explanation models of the universe in past, present and future. Overwhelming, inspiring and full of knowledge I wouldn't have dared to try reading hadn't I been so impressed by the author .

Overall an interesting read!

It was interesting to learn about how much we have discovered about the universe and our ongoing quest for the ultimate understanding of the origin and the laws of universe. Some parts of the book were a bit difficult for me to understand since i am not a physicist, but mostly it was nicely explained that a person with high-school physics knowledge can follow.

Must read for all interested in science

This book is complementing the pieces of knowledge we non scientists might have acquired over the time. A bit outdated it still reflects our situation quite well. Without Stephen Hawking our search for truth might take a bit longer - but - considering one million million million million ... years of time that passed we will be able to wait a bit longer for the lasts questions to remain unanswered. Thank you Mr. Hawking for this wonderful book.
