Was there a beginning of time? Could time run backwards? Is the universe infinite or does it have boundaries?
These are just some of the questions considered in the internationally acclaimed masterpiece by the world renowned physicist - generally considered to have been one of the world's greatest thinkers.
It begins by reviewing the great theories of the cosmos from Newton to Einstein, before delving into the secrets which still lie at the heart of space and time, from the Big Bang to black holes, via spiral galaxies and strong theory. To this day A Brief History of Time remains a staple of the scientific canon and its succinct and clear language continues to introduce millions to the universe and its wonders.
Kritikerstimmen
"This book marries a child's wonder to a genius's intellect. We journey into Hawking's universe while marvelling at his mind." (The Sunday Times)
"Lively and provocative.... Mr. Hawking clearly possesses a natural teacher's gifts--easy, good-natured humor and an ability to illustrate highly complex propositions with analogies plucked from daily life." (The New York Times)

Skittles
Listened to the audio book and went through every chapter twice. Still I kind of got the Skittles rainbow effect, super interesting and fascinating at first but then it soon just gets too much even though I'm not exactly new to the genre.
I liked it anyway. Hawking had an amazing mind and was able to bring complicated matters down to Earth.
Will definitely give this book another go in a few years time. Oh and also I can't believe this book is already as old as me.

This book opened my eyes to new possibilities. But the narration was a little slow, and void of emotions. I have listened to many non fiction books, but the narrator always made the book exciting by changing the tone and speed of the narration. This made the overall experience a little boring

Really challenging for non physics geniuses. Not many people out there to discuss about this book. It simply shows how small normal people are in knowing what human kind knows and how unbelievably smart people like Einstein, Plank, etc and Hawkins will have been ;-) grammatically in line with one of the several open string theories
